John Thorsen blends hard work, integrity and dedication with client satisfaction as he strives to help clients meet their financial and lifestyle objectives. When designing customized investment plans, he applies his broad investment experience acquired since he began working in the financial services industry in 1983. He sees our clients’ financial well-being as his top professional priority as he crafts their comprehensive investment plans. John endeavors to make complex investment concepts easy to understand.

Thorsen ~ Hixenbaugh ~ Kovaleski Wealth Advisors was founded in 2016 by John, Karen and their sons, after John worked as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Raymond James. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business.

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida and an alumnus of the University of North Florida where he graduated with highest distinction, John and his wife, Karen have three terrific sons, Jack, J.R., Kent and wonderful daughters-in-law, Monica and Rachel. John is devoted to his family and is delighted that all of his sons have joined him in the practice. He is active in his church and formerly served on the board of directors of Community Coordinated Care for Children and Sertoma. John enjoys traveling, reading, and game nights.

Jack Thorsen is proud to be a founder of Thorsen ~ Hixenbaugh ~ Kovaleski Wealth Advisors and following in his father’s footsteps as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He joined the team at Raymond James in 2001 and then as a Financial Advisor in 2007. Jack is the team’s primary investment analyst, reviewing money managers, equities and mutual funds. He is committed to the team’s philosophy of managing our clients’ comprehensive investment plan with excellence, service, and integrity.

A lifetime member of the University of Central Florida Alumni Association, Jack earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business with Dean’s List honors.

Jack is active with martial arts and an avid motorsports enthusiast. He enjoys life with his high school sweetheart and wife, Monica. They keep up with their energetic rescue dogs, Rex and Gracie B. Jack and Monica help the community through Pet Alliance of Orlando, UCF Restores, and funding a scholarship for UCF students who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Mike Kovaleski integrates all of the pieces of our clients’ financial and personal lives in order to create simplicity and help them achieve their goals.

Mike is proud to be a part of Thorsen~Hixenbaugh~Kovaleski Wealth Advisors after joining the team in 2013 at Raymond James. In 2009, he completed the RJ Financial Advisor training program and worked in the RJ Financial Planning department assisting advisors with complex investment planning issues. He graduated from Texas Christian University and holds an MBA in Finance from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

J.R. Thorsen is pleased to be a founder of Thorsen ~ Hixenbaugh ~ Kovaleski Wealth Advisors and is focused on the team’s investments planning and now the team’s Social Security and tax specialist. He started at Raymond James in 2008 and has been a financial advisor with the team since 2011. J.R. is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ professional.

His greatest joy is helping clients maximize their resources to achieve important milestones, build resiliency to withstand obstacles, and understand uses the team’s investment process to meet client goals. He graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

J.R. and his wife, Rachel, enjoy exploring Orlando’s changing food scene, traveling to visit friends, and taking in live comedy. He believes in being of service to the institutions that influenced his development by servings as a Lake Highland Board of Trustees member, Georgetown University Grilling Society supporter, and parishoner at St. Margaret Mary Church.

Kent Thorsen believes the key to success is creating a sound plan, and committing to that plan. Our team’s core mission is to work in unison with you and your family to understand your life goals and craft a comprehensive investment plan to guide us to those goals. John and Karen have invested so much of their lives in fulfilling that mission. Family dinners often included the sharing of success stories and an education on what could be improved going forward. Throughout those years of discussions, one lesson continuously reoccurred; creating a plan early is critically important. Many of you already have children and grandchildren that our team is assisting, but if we were not yet introduced, Kent looks forward to helping your family build generational wealth as we continue to strengthen our family’s generational mission.

Kent graduated cum laude from The University of Tampa. He joined the team at Raymond James in 2013, transitioned with us to Thorsen~Hixenbaugh~Kovaleski Wealth Advisors, became a Financial Advisor in 2019, and attained his Branch Manager license in 2020.

He enjoys sports, board-games, and traveling with Jessie.

Patty’s introduction to the financial services industry began when she joined our team at Raymond James in 2000. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and in 1982 she made Florida her home. Patty appreciates her time away from the office with Keith, her fiancée, her family and close friends. She likes the adventure of parasailing and skydiving. Patty successfully achieves her goal to be a cheerful voice when clients call our office and provide the best service possible in a timely manner.

Sarah started her career with our team at Raymond James in 1999 after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Accounting. Her time spent out of the office is enjoyed with her loving family—husband Jason, daughters, Madison and Mary Grace. She and her family adore their little Yorkie Leo. Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys decorating, designing, and home renovations. Sarah is an integral part of the team as she assists with research for the out-of-the-ordinary investment planning cases. She takes great pride in putting her education, experience, and dedication into the investment planning process for all of our clients.

Jessie was born in Connecticut and shortly thereafter moved to Tampa, Florida, which she considers her hometown. She attended Florida State University and graduated in 2017 with a Economics degree. Jessie has consistently involved herself in various philanthropic activities, namely in areas of Education and Youth Leadership Development. Jessie is an essential part of our team and has perfected her financial services industry skills. She is passionate about helping others and understands the universal importance of financial health and well-being. Away from the office she enjoys traveling with Kent, photography, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
